When we think of the period that has come to be known as the Renaissance, we think of the great art and architecture by Brunelleschi, Donatello, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and Raphael. And we think of the Medici family as the patrons of Art and the wealthiest banking family in Europe.
There are many places in Florence where you can learn about the Medici family, but the first place to start is the San Lorenzo-complex.
This tour will give you a good overview of the Medici family history.
We will start with Giovanni de’ Bicci and his son Cosimo the Elder, and then move up to the Grandukes and to the last members of the family.
We will visit The San Lorenzo-Complex (San Lorenzo Church, the Medici Library and the Medici Chapels).
You will see great artworks by Brunelleschi, Donatello, Filippo Lippi, Michelangelo.
This tour will take 3 hours.
